Some New Makeup Bits!

Hi Guys,

Recently I have really been getting  back into the drugstore. After some time buying almost exclusively highend I now spending more and more time in Superdrug. When I got paid this month they were doing a three for two so I got six makeup items.

Makeup Revolution Radiant Lights Palette

This is meant to be a dupe for the Hourglass ambient lights palette. These three shades can be purchased seperately on the website. At the time of writing I have used the middle powder and loved it but will do a full review in time. This was £8.00.

L'Oreal Nudes Collection Eva

I already own Cheryl's and Julianne's nude and love both of them. This one is slightly browner and has a little bit of red in it at the others don't. I am expecting more great results from this lipstick and it was £6.99.

Sleek Eau La Liners in Raisin and Pumpkin

I rimarily bought these as lipliners, as I currently own so few. after playing with raisin a little bit I realise it is too dark for this time of year, so instead I have been using it on my eyes. At this point I have only swatched pumpkin, but I really like what I see. These liners were £4.99 each.

Bourjois Aqua Laque in  Fushcia Perche

After my love of Babe Idole I decided to buy another one of these and I have used this a number of times so far. I wrote a full review a couple of days ago on these, but safe to say I love them! These are a little pricier at the drugstore at £8.99 but like most Bourjois products, they are worth it.

L'Oreal Lumi Foundation

I have wanted another L'Oreal foundation for quite some time after my success with the Match Perfect. As we are coming into the summer months I wanted something glowy and decided to give this a try. I am currently playing with it to find the best way to apply. This was £10.99, again a little pricey at the drugstore but for a foundation  I don't mind.

Superdrug Mud Mask

I have been wanted a really cleaning, refreshing mud mask for some time. Not wanting to spend the huge amount on Glam Glow I have decided to give this ago. I have yet to use it but when I do I will let you know what I think!

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know your thoughts.

Some New Neckalces!

Hi Guys,

I am a lover of costume jewelery and as a result I have recently found myself buying more and more. I feel like I have plenty of earrings, I am not a massive lover of bracelets so what I really need is more statement Necklaces. So a couple of days ago I went shopping and sniffed out some bargains. First of all I went to Primark. Past experience has taught me that anything silver or gold plated items from there discolour very easily, so I tend to avoid them and look for more styles with beads.

This little faux pearl necklace could work for work and also with more fun outfits. This cost just £4.00.

The next three I bought from Boots. This first little blue one is a little bit more subtle, meaning it will fit and will not be too in your face. I really wanted coloured ones so I could really add something to plain outfits. This was originally £10, it says £5 on the label but it cost just £3.75 on the till. I love it when that happens.

This next one should have been £12.50 and was just £5 on the label, but £3.75 at the till, so I thought it was a great deal. This is a darker blue, a very pretty flower design and will definitely make a statement. This one also comes with a pair of earrings bonus!

This next necklace is one that I have been looking for for months. I have wated a necklace that will really make a statement, is modern and is multi coloured. I love the fact that this is pastel making it perfect for spring. This was again just £5.00.

Have you bought any necklaces lately?

Curvy OOTD Blue and Purple

Hi Guys,

Today I will be showing you a casual Friday outfit (that is very similar to my last OOTD) and I wearing another one of my Claudia Skater Dresses from Boohoo. I am also wearing a kimono from New Look that you have seen before. I have lots of clothes but I like to really get use out of them and I keep them for a long time.

This outfit was comfy and cool but as I was wearing it on a train at 6.30am I got some strange looks! The shoes are new to me and are from Primark they are from their wide fit range. I do not need to buy wide fit shoes but I fell in love with these ones and will be wearing them more and more. Also the pictures are so dark because they were taken at 6.20am!

Dress: Boohoo Claudia in Violet £10.00
Kimono: New Look £12.99
Leggings: New Look Two Pack £16.99
Shoes: Primark £4.00

The £5.00 D-F Bra...

Hi Guys,

So for a long time I have been looking for a cheap bra. Most of the items in my wardrobe cost less than £20.00 an item and virtually nothing was more than that. So if you read this blog you know that when I say cheap I mean cheap.

When I came across this range of bras for £5.00 I could not wait to try them. They do not have a huge number of colours I counted five and as one was bright pink and the other bright purple that leaves three for me! I currently own one is ivory and one in powder blue. I am not going to show you pictures of me in the bra as although my confidence has grown, I am not that confident just yet. This is also my first bra review so if I miss anything let me know and I can add it later.

These bras are fantastically made they are very comfortable and have two hooks at the back. This is fine for me but some people may not be so keen. I love the way my boobs sit in this. They look great under a t-shirt (they do call this their t-shirt bra after all) but they also provide a nice amount of cleavge.

The straps are also easy to adjust and they wash very well. In short I adore these bras. I do agree that more sizes should be added to the range but as a 38DD they are perfect for me.

Bourjois Aqua Laque Review

Hi Guys,

I feel like it is such a long time since I have done a beauty review on this channel, so I thought I would start with one of my favourites. I fell in love with their lipstick lipsticks and when I saw this glossier version I decided to give them a go. I am not a massive fan of gloss but after having such success I had to give them a go.

In short these are fab! The colour shows really nicely and they dry glossy - something that I did not expect and they last a very long time. I have two colour Babe Idole and also Fushcia Perche, they are both 'my lips but better' colours. On a slightly lighter pink and one a slightly darker pink.

These also layer really well if you want to build up the colour and it does not affect the the texture or make them uncomfortable. They are also very moisturising on the lips and do not show up any dry patches.

These are £8.99 and I am not sure at the moment if they are limited edition but I definitely want more!

Have you tried any of these products what did you think?

H and M does not like 'large' customers

Hi  Guys,

This post was something that I thought long and hard about before writing but I decided it needed to be done. I wear a large or a size 16 in H and M.

About 18 months ago I had a job interview for the role I currently hold and after being in my interview clothes all day, I decided to nip the Manchester Market Street store for a cheap outfit. I was meeting a friend afterwards and felt uncomfortable in what I was wearing. I came across a large display of around 15 different styles of skater skirt with lots of different sizes. All except large and x large. Thinking they may sell out quickly I then looked at the leggings, again a large space but not one pair of large or extra large. I then look at a couple of dresses that were on sale, nothing. At this point had looked at around 20 different items and was so frustrated I started to check other items at random. Ones that I didn't even want. I know by the time I left that store I had checked over 40 items and not one was available for me to buy.

This was across basics, more expensive items, skirts, dresses, top and trousers. I left the shop furious. Not only had I wasted around thirty minutes of my time I felt discriminated against. As I was so annoyed I did not speak to any of the staff members.

When I started the job a month later I checked again (thinking the previous time was a one off) and the same thing happened. I found myself going in every couple of weeks and getting more and more annoyed.

After five visits like this I decided to complain via the website. The response I got was less than pleasing. I do not have the email anymore, however it basically told me that they put all of the sizes out on the shop floor. So asking someone would make no difference, they did not explain why so many items would not be available.

For some time I avoided H and M and then slowly started to go back in there. I knew that I would only find my size in 1 in 5 items  that I looked at, but as a size 16 I don't expect things to be as easy as when I was a size 10. Recently, however they have gone back to their old ways.

A couple of weeks ago I was in the York store and I searched the racks, again dozens of items not available in my size. The Cheshire Oaks store a few days later, the same deal. My partner could not find anything in his size either and when he spoke to the manager was just told they were busy.

I have had continuing issues in the Manchester Market Street store, but an experience at the store in the Arndale Centre was what pushed me over the edge. I checked a huge rail of cardigans, nothing in my size. I checked a whole sections of skirts, nothing in my size. In fact the only think I did find (after checked dozens of products) was a white pair of cycle shorts. This is a disgrace.

I have now decided I will not buy another item from H and M. If you don't want to do larger sizes, don't. That is your business decision, however do not say you stock them when you evidently don't. In the past I have managed to obtain items from the website but it appears to me that there is just no room in their stores.

If H and M can give me a reason why they ignore larger customers I would be happy to know. I would also like to know if they get their act together. Until that point I will not be shopping with them again.

**********H AND M RESPONSE *********

 Dear Helen,

Many thanks for your email which we received last week.

We are very sorry to hear about your unsuccessful shopping experiences that you encountered in our H&M stores.  All stores should carry the wide range of sizes that we have within our collections and these should be available on the shop floor.  For those sizes that have sold out, we have stock replenishments from our distribution centre throughout the week to all stores.

Customer Service and our customers shopping experience is very important to us and we very much appreciate your feedback. Please rest assured that will be following this up in the stores that you visited.
In the mean time, our website is able to hold a much great quantity and variety of stock than our individual stores. This means we're able to stock many items in all of our sizes and this may be a good place to look should your local store be out of stock when you visit.

I would like to take the time to assure you that your comments have been logged and will be made available to all levels of managers up and down the country. Feedback good and bad is the way H&M looks to grow and improve as a company.

Should you have any further questions relating to this particular enquiry, please respond to this email so that it will revert to the Back Office department. As this query is being dealt with directly by ourselves, I am writing to you from an address that is unique to our department and is not viewed by other members of the customer service team.

Should you have any further queries relating to other matters, these will be best dealt with by my colleagues at the email address so that they can be directed to and dealt with by the appropriate people.

We do hope you will visit H&M stores again in the future or visit us online at

Kind regards,

H&M Customer Service

I will check my local stores in a couple of weeks and see what happens

OOTD Plus Size Casual Work Ready!

Hi Guys,

I love boohoo jersey dresses. They are comfortable, easy to wash and come in such a huge collection of colours. This particular dress is in navy but I own it in three colours. It shows a little boob (which is always good for me!) and is just about long enough to wear with tights for work, but leggings are much more comfortable/

This kimono was bought from Primark almost two years ago and is still going strong, proving that Primark clothes really do last.

I wear this for work as my office is fairly casual, this might not be suitable for your office. If not this is still a great outfit to wear on days off.

I am still getting used to the picture thing and trying to find the right poses let me know if you have any advice!

Kimono: Primark (old)
Dress: Bohoo Claudia Skater Dress £10
Leggings: New Look Two Pack £16.99
Shoes: Primark £4.00

What do you wear for work? Let me know in the comments below.

Benefit Wishlist

Hi Guys,

Up until last year I had nothing from this brand and over the last few months I have seen my collection grow steadily. It is still not complete, and that is why today I bring you my wishlist.

I have heard such good things about this product and it is just the way I like to do my brows. I have never been one for a pencil as I find it too harsh and brow mascaras too crispy.

I already own Hervana and I have hit quite considerable pan on it and I have heard that all of thier blushes are just as amazing. I currently have nothing like this blush in my collection and I think it would be part bronzer on my pale skin.

Fine One One

This is another product that I have absolutely nothing like. I am starting to get more and more into cream products and the colours of this (and the packaging) are so pretty I think I would never put it down!

Erase Paste

I recently discovered a great big monster on my chin and realised that I only own brightening concealer with a very light coverage. I really need something heavy to cover anything that large that pops up again. From what I have read this will be perfect for that.

Posie Tint

I got a sample of this is a magazine and last year during a spending ban I used it for two weeks straight on my cheeks and lips and fell in love with it. Ever since then I have wanted the full size product.

What do you want from Benefit? Let me know in the comments below.

Confidence: What taking pictures of myself has taught me

Hi Guys,

Growing up I was never very confident, this was in part due to emotional abuse suffered during my childhood. I was told I was too fat, was not pretty enough and was told what I could and couldn't wear. At the age of 19 I was a size 8/10 and was still being given that message.

Then, something changed I left home and moved in with my boyfriend. Yes I am now a size 16 but I am much more confident. Until last summer I had never got my bare legs out and I only did it twice, this spring I begrudge putting them away for work! This has been further embedded by seeing them on pictures for the blog. They are not horrible, I think they are actually quite nice!

When I look at pictures of myself yes, I see someone fat but I see someone happy and that is far more important to me.

Also the amount of support I have had from other bloggers and companies (my retweet from New Look was a high point) has been fantastic. I am so excited to continue this series and my boyfriend is getting more and more confident at taking pictures of me!

Here is a picture of behind:

If I Could Buy From ColourPop!

Hi Guys,

For a while I have been seing a huge number of Youtubers talk about ColourPop Cosmetics and I have been wanting them more and more. I know that we can't buy them here in the UK so here are a few things I would get, if I could. From looking at the website it appears they are shipping to more and more places so hopefully it will be us next!

All pictures taken from the ColourPop website I do not own them.

Pigment in Slave2Pink

I love playing with  really bright colours and this cream to powder finish pigment looks amazing. I think if worked subtly this could make a really pretty blush colour. This retails for $5 USD.

Lippie Stix in Frida

One of my favourite Youtubers is CoffeeBreakWithDani and this is the main recent I would like this. The colour also looks like one of this perfect dark nudes that are very fashionable at the moment, thanks to Kylie Jenner.

Blush in Trickery

I have heard so many good things about this colour and I know it is just perfect for fair skin like mine! I am huge fan of cream to powder blushes as I think they look so fresh, without being sticky. This would be a fantastic addition to my collection.

Just a small list for now as due to being a home owner I am not spending anywhere near as much as I used to.

What items would you be after from this brand?

Plus Size Outfit of the Day Red Jersey and Flowers

Hi Guys,

So today after a week of wearing contact lenses I am back in my glasses and glad for it. We went to see a car today and my photographer (aka my boyfriend,Thomas) did not take my pictures until a lot later on.

I am obsessed with Jersey Dresses - as you would have seen in the last post - and this one was an Amazon wonder for £4.00. It is quite see through so I put a long black vest top underneath it so nobody sees my knickers! As we were having quite a lazy day I decided to make the outfit casual and add this little loose kniw jumper on top. I loved the way it topped the dress off.

I am also loving the bare legs at the moment and I adore these gorgeous flat shoes from Dorothy Perkins.

Jumper: Primark Old
Dress: Amazon £4.00
Shoes: Dorothy Perkins in the Sale £8.00n (Full Price £15.00)

Check out my Polyvore Account!

Hi Guys,

For those who don't know Polyvore is a sight that lets your create 'sets', almost like moodboards for fashion, beauty or home. I love them. I discovered it a couple of days ago after someone mentioned it on Youtube and it has become my new obsession!

Not only have I found this set to be a great blogger tool it is also so fun to sit on work on a possible makeup look or outfit for a few minutes. I love that I can search for sites I regularly buy from - you will see a lot from New Look, as at the moment I am obsessed with them - and that I can search from certain item types. These are items that are for sale in actual online shops so you can create the set and then buy it.

I am helenjones-personal and here are a few of my creations! (you will see one or two of these on the blog in the coming weeks! Also I am in no way sponsored I just love the site.

My Go To Nude Lipsticks..

Hi Guys,

I have never liked nude lipsticks, something about them has just put me off, however that has recently changed.
It all started with MAC's Cremecup, my partner picked it out for me about a year ago and only now have I falled in love with it.

This is a beigy nude with a little bit of pink in it making it very wearable and it stops any 'concealer lips' it is a cremesheen so is very comfortable.

L'Oreal The Nudes Collection is fantastic, I currently own two and wish to own more. Julianne's nude is favourite this is very pink (as nudes go) and give me a great high shine finish.

Last but not least Beige Trent by Bourjois is something very different for me. The best way to describe this would be a grey but I love the way it looks. This really compliments my skin tone, the colour of my eyes and goes with a lot of different outfits.

Plus Size OOTD - Swing Dress and Bare Legs!

Hi Guys,

Welcome to another OOTD - this is a series I am really enjoying and comparing my very first pictures to these I am getting more and more confident. The day was spent with friends eating my home made shepherds pie and muffins yum! Btw that is a spot you see near my lip not a piece of chocolate!

Plus Size OOTD .. My Birthday!

Hi Guys,

Welcome to another OOTD, this is my fourth and so far I am really loving them. The best thing about them is that I am starting to look at pictures of myself - as I really am, not overly consider Selfies - and I am not disgusted. So today I just wanted to stay comfy and cool and this kimono from New Look allowed me to stay slightly glam at the same time. I love the picture where my eyes are closed, I am definitely not used to this. Again most of this outfit and New Look, apart from the £1 Primark Shoes. I will brush up on that soon and show you something from somewhere else I promise!

Kimono Crazy...

Hi Guys!

I love a good kimono they are so comfy and so easy to wear as I said in a previous post I own ten and I plan on increasing this. So here is three ways I would style them. I created all of these looks using Polyvore and as I am new to it pulled items from the New Look Online Shop. As I am a size 16 all clothes are from the main range, however due to the size of kimonos (they are always oversized) ladies a couple of sizes larger could emulate these.

 Casual Summer

Black dress
Beach cover up
Orange shoes
Beauty product

Of an Evening...

Burgundy dress
Mela Loves London black kimono
Black high heel shoes
Black elastic belt

Kimono at Work.. (If you have quite a casual office like me)

Camisole top
White Tile Print Dip Hem Kimono
Black skirt
Black flat
Gold jewelry
